Final accounts for multiple group companies

Six companies, six formats and the same mistake six times? Not any more: every company's statements from one template, on one timetable.

Quick answer

For group final accounts we prepare each company's statement of financial position, statement of profit or loss and other comprehensive income, cash flows, changes in equity, accounting policies and notes from its trial balance, using the same format and policies across the group. Fixed asset schedules, deferred tax and ratios come with it, so the auditor's questions are answered in advance.

Our team has prepared the final financial statements, policy notes, covers and management letters for six companies of a food and agro group in one year. It has also produced two consecutive years of final accounts for a holding company and final statements from the ledgers of an automobile company.

What is prepared for each company

  • Statement of financial position (balance sheet)
  • Statement of profit or loss and other comprehensive income
  • Statement of cash flows and statement of changes in equity
  • Significant accounting policies and detailed notes
  • Fixed asset schedule, deferred tax and income tax workings
  • Ratio analysis and explanations of large movements from last year
  • Top sheets, schedules and lead sheets for the auditor

Why one template matters

When different people prepare each group company's accounts in separate spreadsheets, note numbers, classifications and policies drift apart. The board cannot see the group clearly, and the auditor has to learn every file separately.

We build one template: the same chart of accounts mapping, the same note structure, the same fixed asset and deferred tax workings. Drop each company's trial balance into the template and the statements and notes follow. Next year starts from last year's template.

Closing management letter findings

Alongside the final accounts we go through last year's management letter and check which findings are still open: fixed asset registers, inventory adjustments, bank confirmations or tax deducted at source. We propose separate work for those so the same findings do not return this year.

Frequently asked questions

Do you prepare consolidated statements?

Separate statements for each company are our core work. Where consolidation is needed we prepare a draft with intra-group elimination schedules, and the final review happens with the auditor.

Our auditor is a different firm. Will you work with them?

Yes. We prepare documents and statements on the company's behalf; the auditor verifies them independently. The two roles stay separate.

Which reporting framework do you follow?

IFRS as adopted in Bangladesh and the requirements of the Companies Act 1994. If the company falls under the Financial Reporting Council, we add those requirements.
